I hve two axles, dana 44 passenger drop front from 62' j-300, and a dana 44 rear from the same vehicle. I would like to know how much these are worth so i can sell them. Both work fine and are open.

It's a good question and I am considering picking up a 74 wag that I would part the axles out on too, so I am interested in the responses.

All I know is that a guy I knew in UT said 6 States gave him $100 in store credit for the rear dana 44 out of a 70s wag and he installed the front in his Wrangler.

I bleev the CJ crowd realy likes to get their hands on the front (due to the narrow track width) but tends to shy away from the rear because of the offset differential. But they prolly wont want any with closed knuckes if that's what you got.

Now you know everything I know...anybody else?

Anything is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. To be for sure you need to advertise it, or put it on e-bay. I would guess though that those axles aren't worth too much. There are too many much newer dana 44's laying around for cheap. If I am correct, I don't think you have dana 44's in that old of a Jeep. If you do they were probably put there by somebody else. You also might have closed knuckles on your front axle, and there aren't to many guys who want to have them on a rig. Never know though, one man's junk is another man's treasure.

Need more info than that, you should be looking at a closed knuckle 44 in the front and a 2 piece 53 for the rear if they are originalyl from a 63 (probably titled as a 62).
How many lugs are on them? 5 from a 1/2 ton or 8 from a 3/4 ton? What are the gear ratios?
All those things would have some effect on the price. If you were close to me and they were the 5 lug 44 & 53 combo, I might go $50 for both if they were already pulled and turned freely without any odd noises, other than that I'd have to see what they were.

I am fairly certain they are origional axles and i know they are 4.10 r&p's. 5 lugs.

Yeah, the other drawback on those axles, besides the already-mentioned closed-knuckle front end and two-piece rear shafts, are the 19-spline axles and associated carriers.

They would be most valuable to somebody restoring just such a J-truck, but not worth much to somebody looking to upgrade. If somebody offered you $50 for the pair, snap it up quick!

or put them on e-bay; you never know what people will bid up on there.

$50 each I'd say trouble is find the right person to buy them. I've had luck selling axles on here they are one of the harder parts to sell unless they have something really desireable about them. Lockers and heavy duty full floaters etc.
