Looking at the Bush Whacker Cut-Out Flares. Want to put 'em on but scared to cut. ( I haven't bought them yet.) I'm looking for some solid suggestions, measurements, or pics before I cut into my super straight body. I've used the link ryan at BJ's gave me, but I can't get into it.
Thanks

Do you guys cut to fit, or have a template for them?

Okay, I wasn't sure. When I asked Bj's, they gave me a link for directions.
Thanks.

I don't think your tires are big enough to make the Bushwackers look good. Those flares stick out from the body 5" and you need some BIG tires and wheels that stick out to fill them, other wise they look silly. I don't even think the white Wag fills them up enough, but that is just me.

I concur.
Cutter - what are you planning on doing for lift/tires?

It's got a 6" and 33x12.50's. I'll go bigger later (38's w/ Spring-Over?) When I flex I'm cutting the crap out of my tire treads. I know they stick out, but I was looking at my offset and I think they may look alright. A lot of money for the Bush Whackers. I have a pretty nice looking Jeep but I also play with it. I'm going for looks and functionality. I for sure need to cut the fenders and haven't come up with anything better for a nice finish. Any better ideas, I'm open to them.

The tire and wheel combo on the Jeep pictures posted by BillyRB stick out 3" from the fender line, so there are a couple of inches the tires don't fill in. Although it looks a little strange from a front veiw the profile view looks pretty good. I have only had this rig since Saturday and have been been pulled over by a few Jeep fans telling me how good this Wagon looks.
If you want to sling mud, road slime or rocks over your Jeep on a day to day basis these flares are probably not for you. The original owner that installed these bought them at BJ's and he did a really good job making them a custom fit.

Cutter, post up a pic of what you've got.
I ran a 6" BJS with 35x14.5s and it rubbed like all hell...and that was with plenty of "rust removal" trimming.
The SOA, if done on the stock 1/2 tons is only going to net you another inch. If you really want to run 38s you're going to have to trim eventually, flares or no flares.
I'm putting together a set of SOA one tons (should net about an extra inch over 1/2 tons) w/ 2" lift springs and that should give me plenty of room for my 37s.

Rubbing on the fronts of both sets of fenders at full stuff. Took a grinder to the front corners and rounded them of a little. It may help until I can figure out some flares.http://www.militaryjeepers.com/community/picture.php?albumid=313&pictureid=2456http://www.militaryjeepers.com/community/picture.php?albumid=313&pictureid=2455

Hey guys,
We have a set of Bush Wacker XJ flares we're going to install on the Guatemalan GW build. The install write-up on BJsOffroad.com site is so old ... its GONE, that's why it won't pull up.
Brent/Ryan/Matt @ BJ's ... does anyone have the install instructions in any sort of detail, so that the installer can put these on for us? We're looking for where to cut, how much trimming, etc. Thanks A LOT guys!

unfortunately, those were the only instructions we had. When I figured I should make a copy, they were gone from the original poster's site and he didn't have a back-up copy.

Thanks Greg, have to look it up when I get home. Gov computers don't like Photobucket.

I tried searching but could not find it... I know there was a great build thread on here of a 2-tone pearl white / dark red wagon with bushwacker flares. I recall it looking really tight as far as stance. Maybe someone else know what to search. I ran out of ideas to plug into the search engine.

That's the Waggy in the Jeep Junkie article ... he was the guy that had the install instructions thread referenced at BJsOffroad.com website.
I have the article in PDF format, showing that specific white/red Waggy.
