bad speedo-whats it sound like

i know its hard to describe sounds but i have this rattling type noise coming I assume from under the dash some where. thought it might be the speedo cable going bad. any idea what it sounds like.

If it is making noise and still registering speed then it's not bad yet. Unscrew it from the speedo and pull the inside cable. CLean the cable and as you are feedign it back down inside the outer cable spray hell out of it with graphite. You can use white lithium grease as a lube also but if your anywhere it gets to freezing or below I wouldn't do that as the grease can become super thick and actually break off the cable trying to turn in it.
