I have a chance to pic this thing up for 100 bones, quadratrac, full sized axles, no motor, but i have a 360 for it. My ? is how much you think its worth running, straight body 83,000 orig. miles. I don't know much about the cheif's so can anybody help a fellow addict out?

$100 is less than scrap-go for it!

Depending on the actual condition, with a running engine it is probably worth between $500 and $10,000. I know that doesn't help but I don't have much to go on...

Ok the truth.....I am trying to convince the wife that its worth something:thumbsup: , so she does'nt think i am buying another peice of junk jeep lol.
It needs some work but everything is there except the motor. I have the 360 i pulled out of the 79 waggy when i did the 401 swap. the motor is fairly fresh so i will have it running this weekend.

I haven't heard that but I will say that rare in these rigs normally doesn't translate into $$$

Surely its worth AT LEAST $1K if its running?

I mean there are all sort of people who need a good cheap 4x4 and don't care at all about looks... So in other words take what your motors worth ($400 MAYBE) and what you pay for the Jeep ($100) and whatever your labor is worth (you say it will take 1 weekend of work, the average american makes about $42K per year so if you are average you labor is worth about $20 an hour thus 2 days of work is worth $323).

You essentially paid $823 and I am almost 100% certain you could get $1200 out of it even after driving it a bit. I paid $1100 for my GW with a good bit of rust AFTER negotiating down and I got it from a guy who had no use for it and wanted it out of his garage.

That said I DOUBT you would actually WANT to sell it... But its nice to know that as an asset it is worth more than you have into it.

There's a really clean white chief for sale in San Antonio right now for $6k. I paid almost $5k for my '83 Laredo. Do you have any interior pics? What do you mean by full size axles, not D44/M23?

I am pretty sure they are dana 44's, at first i thought they were narrow trac, but i learned that since the factory fender flares are there that they are wide trac. The interior is rough, but i will be replacing the carpet and reupholstering the seats, other than that, there is no rust, i mean not even the floor pans have rust, and the body is straight no dents, just needs a good buff and the white should come back.

Then I would think with some decent tires and a little work it would probably be worth $3k.

100 with interior needing replacement, yeah, buy it.
running, with interior redone could bring in 1000 to who knows, depending on the economy in where you sell it.

bare bones as it is, I would pay up to 500 even knowing the interior needs replacing as long as the body, frame, axles and trans are ok. IF i had 500 to let go of, that is. got too many projects here now
DO want another 79 CC, only $$$ are scarce for me
