View Full Version : Symptom of FSJophilia?

Last night was the worst night of my life. The details pain me to recount, but I'll try...
I had a dream, err... nightmare that my Waggy was stolen, used, abused, and left on the side of the road for dead. I saw it all happening and was powerless to do anything about it. I was then forced to repair the bent and twisted sheet metal, rebuild the tired AMC 360 and a burnt TH400, trace electrical gremlins and open grounds... :banghead:
Wait, wait, wait... That part is more like reality, but do I really have to be covered in oil and the pungent smell of ATF in my dreams?
Is it "normal" for a grown man to have FSJ nightmares? Or is it just another stage of the FSJ disease?
Is it also "normal" to covet others FSJs? To stop in parking lots when another FSJ is spotted and want to touch them? To turn you head in traffic when another FSJ passes by? To want to buy yet another & another & another FSJ, until you own them all? (diabolical HAHAHA)
Am I "normal" or do I need to make a reservation for a rubber room and a nice white jacket?

I dunno about others, but it sounds pretty "normal" to me. :D
Me too! Every time I see one, I want another. Those "business cards" that others were talking about are the perfect excuse to look more closely at one!

Just think about how bad it is for someone like me, that doesn't have one yet. Check craigslist, autotrader, every 15 minutes waiting for an FSJ to show up. Then if one does, worrying that because I am stuck at work I'll miss out on getting it. It's driving me insane!! I have the cash ready to go, but just haven't seen one, and the ones that I have seen something always seem to "come up" when it's time to go look at it. :banghead:

Just think about the poor thieves that were dumb enough to steal an FSJ and probably had to walk the rest of journey after your FSJ broke down on them!

A few weeks ago my wife and I were riding thru the countryside. She noticed that every time we passed a house I would look the property over real good. Finally curiosity got the best of her and she asked "Did you lose something out here?" I replied "Nope, just looking for Jeeps". :D

THATS what drives me to log onto this site every free second I get.
That is the ones I'm NOT spending on the Jeeps.....
My wife thinks I'm weird 'cause I'll give myself whiplash to check out another FSJ, like a construction worker with a college gym class running by.......

same here. I actually prefer riding shotgun now so I can peruse peoples yards at 70 mph with more success :D

I wasn't even looking, then one slow day at work I saw an email thread from my local Jeep club where some member's neighbor had an old Cherokee sitting in their driveway for 10 years. They wanted it out and were only asking $300 - the picture link showed it was a Laredo (WT) with no rust. I immediately replied that I would take it, left work early, got $300 from an ATM and bought it.
After spending a little over a grand for new paint, carpet, rubber seals, etc., it drives like new. Now, my wife wants me to find her an old Wagoneer........ I went to look at a two for one deal last night - an '87 and a '90 for $1,500. Then there's a '90 that had an engine fire that I'm also going to look at.
But I'm not addicted, I can quit at any time, I just don't want to............

the wife had a Hans Device installed in my rig so i could not see them :D
didn't work i can smell them a mile away :drivin:
These dreams are typical. You're lucky you can get any sleep. I just lie there awake going over all the things I want to do.
I smelled like gear oil for weeks once. A Chevy 3 speed transmission fell on my chest at pic-a-part and its contents drenched me. I thought they emptied that stuff.

For my job I travel I cover about 5 counties, and when they are out in the country it takes me a lot longer to get there and back because I'm checking out every old farmstead that might have old Jeeps.

So would that be considered a "WET" dream???? http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd218/COLOJEEPGUY2K/Emotions/Naughty_smiley.gif
I had the same type of dream, stolen not the wet part ;) . When I walked outside later I about dropped because my GW was GONE!!! http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd218/COLOJEEPGUY2K/Emotions/confused2.gif

I am getting ready to buy another. I NEVER see them driving around near me... I saw one parked (though looked to be a DD since it was in the drive and in nice shape) about 200 miles from here and my family CLAIMS there is one that can be seen about in Berea (a town about 40 miles from me) but thats it. My current one is totally lonely... Am sure another one would add an immediate 20HP by making my current one happier... Unless I get a broken one as I have heard its contagious.

PamHeh, that's the way to do it! I had a couple appts in Cortez a few weeks ago and took a tour around north part of town and up to Ariola where we know some FSJs are camping out. I had not been over there in a couple years and all of them are still where I last saw them! So, the stash is safe. :D The ones we see going back and forth to work are the ones we end up driving home so far. :fsj:

Learned behavior from my dad (it's Vettes for him)...we both keep a pair of binoculars in the car so we can spot that one that's just a bit too far off the road. And I could not even begin to count how many times I have torn down and rebuilt my engine in my head (or whatever other project is topical) as I lay in bed trying to go to sleep.
May be a sickness, but I'm ok with it

I've heard said by psycologists that everyone in your dreams is actually yourself...... so ya better start treating your FSJ nicer

this constant rubber necking may pay off for me. Driving through the countryside yesterday I saw a 75 j10 sitting in a field, no wheels, looked decent so I turned around and stopped, and knocked on the door. The guy had bought the truck (360 quad, what else) to complete his j20 in the garage that had been wrecked, well I was in my j20, and he said it was only the second one he had seen. We checked out the j20, grill, hood and drivers side fender was hosed, but in side the hood was a newly rebuilt 401. He says he wants to get out of the "jeep" business, so hes going to think about it and offer me a package deal, lets see what happens, the addiction continues.

"Hello my names Jason and I'm a FSJophila addict." "It's been 4 months since I last tempted divorce by buying another FSJ, the 79' Cherokee."
Is there any cure for this sickness??!!!??
Nahhhh were doomed, I just rented a large space in the local open vehicle storage lot to keep "collecting." Now she can't see them when I drag another home. :D

All of this is quite normal for an FJ enthusiast. I do the same thing with the new Challengers as well. But my bf and I both do that with the FJ's, because they're rare.

One of the joys of using a bucket truck is getting to see what is behind the fence and no I am not letting anybody see my marked maps
