Yesterday I becam the owner of a 1976 Wagoneer. The starter went out as I got it home (no big deal!) but I am stuck in emergency drive and not sure how to get it out (the switch isn't working) I just want it unlocked till I can get rid of the quadratrac . Any ideas on how to do this? I think it is just stuck as it hadn't run in quite a while till I bought it.

check your vacuum lines, chances are that they have fallen off/rotten away. i have that same problem in mine. i just am not driving it, and i have no need to replace the lines yet...
and before oyu get rid of the quadratrac check out this site.

Welcome aboard! X2 on what's mentioned above. Flint is a Q-trac guru. :D

And you might want to study up on how easy it isn't to just get rid of a qtrac. Unique output shaft on the Turbo 400.
And let me say:
:worthless:
Fit were me and the vacuum prob w/ the e-drive was not diagnosed w/ a quick check of the lines, and I needed to get the thing on the road, here's what I would do:
1) Buy some vacuum line (enough to go from the engine compartment to the T-case)
2) Run that line from a port on the carb with verified vacuum to one of the ports on the vac switch on the T-case. Drive the rig back and forth a few times to see if it comes out of E-drive. If that don't work, switch the vac line on the T-case to the other port and do the same thing.
3) If neither of those work, then you diaphragm in the vacuum actuator must be bad or the actuator itself is stuck.
Are you sure you are stuck in Edrive or is it just the light telling you it is?

No I am sure it is stuck lol it tells me so every time I try to turn it:drivin:
What I would really like to do and I DO NOT know much about these FSJ's is to put a Dana 20 in it with a twin stick just for more 4wd control

And yes people do live in the school bus on the property behind me! Wasn't there when I moved here! I guess home is a bluebird with a wood burning stove :banghead:
Welcome aboard. Nice wag.

Before you drive it much, get the same tires on all four corners. The QT doesn't play well with different size tires.

Cool, looks very similar to my blue 1977 Wagoneer that I bought few weeks ago. I like original Jeeps. Thank for sharing :)
