Went looking for a discussion on Junk parts and didn't see any. We have one of those pull a parts here that the vehicle stays about three mos and is then crushed. Any comments or discussion? Breaks my heart to see some of these disappear...

we have a few here in houston, and ive never seen any fsjs, ive seen of plenty of xjs some mjs couple of yjs one tj and one jk, other than that not many jeeps in junkyards that you can pull your own parts, probably because theyre easy enough to fix, or to valuable to go to those type of junkyards, they usually go to junkyards where they pull the parts for you and your not even allowed to look at the car or they go to the auctions

There have been quite a few through the local one here. There are always acouple of FSJ's in it. On occaision even a truck. Hate seeing transfer cases, axels, transmissions and the like go to the great recycle bin. I, like everyone else, am scrounging for parts, pieces etc...

The ones here in Northern CA are always full of FSJ's.
I used to post here when I found a clean one and offered to get parts that people needed, no one ever replied so I stopped doing it.
Now I just go get what I need.

Whenever I go in I always see at least one complete wide track, most of the time with very little or no rust. I know that the yard only pays 100-300 for vehicles, and I think "what idiot sells a complete jeep for that little?", or at least "why didn't they sell it to me?". Heck, they could scrap it and get $400.

I maintain my own junk yard. With the exception of the XJ 6 and a coupla Fords, I had briefly, every car Ive had in the last 30 yrs has a parts rig too. Because I stick with the same model until I cant find a good body anymore, one car becomes parts for the next.

We have about 7 fsj's here at a local yard. I have pulled many parts for my street legal fsj, and have made offers for the entire vehicle, but they add the price of every part and you can't touch even a pretty beat up one for under 600 bucks. I hate seeing all these rigs in the junk yard, they need to be in mine lol.

Yeah we are in Oak Ridge. The local one is over in Knoxville. Just got home from there. They just got a 79 Levi's Honcho in there. I too try to keep my own spares but you can never get enough can you? Heck some times they will have one better than what I've got on the street

I have 8-9 in My junkyard right now.:D
If the junkyard calls you for jeep parts... you might be a redneck.
