'Cause they do nothing but make my heart swoon.
And then they remind me that the 2 FSJ's I kick myself for getting rid of were the 2 trucks I had sitting in the driveway.

Be ready for a repaint of the front end when you do that. My white waggy has black paint under the final edition grille.

Rattle can? If that... Its an offroader do it does not need to be pretty... Though for some reason I want a new grill which makes no sense if looks are not important... Go figure.

Yeah, rattle can would work if its a beater. My truck is a beater thats why I got a grill that is all bent up, that way I won't cry if I smash the grille.
I hate this thread. I've wanted a J truck my whole life. Now that I'm unemployed I see nice ones for sale everywhere! I will have one though!, eventually!

These FSJ really do multiply.
I found it couple years ago in Alaska when looking for Gladiator.
Didn't know how rare to find 87 with nice org paint, so finally bought it.
Plus not getting much work done on Gladiator, been mad at it since front axle rolled off jackstands while wire brushing it, and fell & broke my big toe.....still hurts.
So can actually drive this 87. :drivin: :fsj: :drivin:

Mine is navy blue rustolium shot on with 25$ gun from ebay, lots of wetsanding, spray, lots of wetsanding, its almost where I want it.
I had to use it a bit to haul, garage was not big enough for wood and truck, long bed is nice.
Now if I could get this wiring figured out I would be able to enjoy it a bit. Been banging my head against the wall for a while now trying to figure it out.

Yeah, it tends to throw a few folks for a loop. Had one guy at a local car meet quite dumfounded when I told him it was a 1984.... Thanks for the cudos!
If I could only fit a set of older Jeep baby moons on it (I get tired of everyone telling me my dog dishes are off of a Ford...:banghead: )

not stock - it used to be james brolin's truck (the actor) - he had won it in a desert race where they had painted these black for him. it looks great - not original though.
it's a truck with a great history... and it's got a nasty 401 - very nasty... :-)

What truck is that bed off of? Early Ford?
Catfish33
10-02-2009, 06:16 AM
The bed itself is off of a 69' Chevy and the fenders are from a 78' Dodge.
The truck was originally a brush truck with one of the local fire departments, so it never had a bed on it. It should have an 8' bed on it but couldn't find an original bed locally, plus I prefer a short bed. We shortened the WB by about a foot to fit the bed that I was given.

Those are actually 35" Goodyear MT's, before they became MTR's. Popular in the mid to late '90s. Good traction on smooth rock, suck in mud. Seriously thin sidewalls.
Lift is about 4-5".

A very sano match with the paint color and wheels. I need to get mine painted...it's two-tone dark blue over the silver/blue and I was thinking of just going with the solid silver/blue.

It's purely conceptual at this point. I am going to make a cradle for the winch to sit in out of 1/4" and then use the stock bumper as a facia for the rest of it. I will pie slice the stock ends to make up for the angle I am adding to the unit and then rechrome the ends.
I will make a post of the whole project as I think people will be interested in it. I love the stock chrome on old vehicles yet I love having a winch. I have been sleeping poorly as I collect parts for this build. 14BFF and HD44 are sitting in the shop waiting. Rear disc conversion is "in the mail" and lift springs are about 3 weeks out.
