On Sunday, the transmission went out in my 1995 Ford Club Wagon. The van has very, very little rust. It has 140K. I have it at my house now.
Now, my question is--do you think I would be able to barter the 1995 Club Wagon for some work to be done to my 1977 Wagoneer?
A---Good idea--someone would use Ford Club Wagon for part or maybe FSJ Part hauler
B---Cash is the best, we are all short on cash
C---Who wants a Ferd??

It depend on what kind of work you want done, and are you willing to pay any different if it comes to that. Is this van a DD or just another veh., how much do you use it and do you need it. There is no dought that you can fine someone that would barter the work if you are not in a hurry. I take it you don't want to do the work yourself. :( You get the Frown for not working on your own Jeep.:D

Just go get a junkyard trans and pop it in there. Its 2wd, no big deal. Did it just POOF stop, or has it been slipping?

Tranny has been jerking for sometime. It then stopped when I was driving on I 355.
The van was DD driver, but now I'm using my 1977 Caprice Wagon for that. Van is good for business as I work a lot with bikes, but I can deal with Caprice wagon for now.

The Jeep needs work with brake and carburetor for start.
THe Ford van was actually getting maybe 13 MPG on a bad muffler. Maybe with tranny rebuild, it'll jump to 14.
I got an estimate of one place that can do tranny rebuild for around $700-800. Does that sound like a good deal?

Yes, $700 to 800 is not a bad deal. They wanted $1650 to do my 96 dodge truck and I figured that if I did it myself and screw it up it still wouldn't cost me much more to have them do it. So I tore it apart and put new parts in with and new tc for around $450 and it run great.

just for a kind of reference...I barter and sell Transformer toys on ebay and other sites...plastic toys...bank $$$...anyway..it all comes down to what you have and what they want(need)...if you take your time and shop the deal around on the internet via sites and Bulletin boards you will get it worked out...i have worked many a trade in Transformers with other folks....
