oil pump rebuild ??'s

Are the kits that a few people on this board sell that much better than the $15 one napa sells? I would really like to hear from someone who tried the parts store one then in the same motor with out changing anything else tried one of the others and what kind of psi he (or she) had with each one. Thanks

prolly the most important thing to look out for on an AMC oil pump rebuild is the gear to housing clearance as our beloved AMC's do not have the best timing covers...

pressure can be manipulated simply with a stiffer spring/and or shimming said spring but more pressure isn't necessarily better and using a high volume pump with a stock sized oil pan is definetly not better

how long would it take to rebuild one? a day or more ? never done it but prolly need 2. Iddle 10psi hiway 40 psi
