I took off my right side exhaust manifold today and I want to clean the threads in the block. Whats the best way to clean the threads? I have a air compressor to blow them out but should I run a tap in them?

Also, I got some of that permanex spray gasket stuff for the exhaust manifold gaskets. Does that stuff work good? It says it's specific for exhaust manifolds. Opinions?

I run a tap thru the holes using lots of clean light weight oil. Hose them out with carb cleaner or break cleaner then finally compressed air to dry.

Just a suggestion, spray PB Blaster in the holes to loosen up the rust first. MG :D

Recommend using a bottom tap, and if installing studs use locktite.
