After months of hard work, my Summit 8600 cam swap/Mallory HEI/Edelbrock 1406 installation is complete. Behold the beautiful exhaust note:

man that sounds great!! is the idle a little high or was that normal?? It was nice to hear the truck run and thanks for the "close up" of the pipes-sounds awesome... I hae been concerned about the 8600 reading some of the threads on changing out cams ,as I'm looking at doing soon,I was under the impression it would be much "lopier" than yours sounded...
Thanks again-nice job!!

It was idling a little bit fast, I haven't adjusted the idle mixture on the carb since I put the new fuel pump and open element air filter on. I thought the 8600 would be choppier as well, but I guess I was comparing that to a high duration .530 lift cam I had in an '84 Corvette. This cam seems like it will wake an engine up with very little driveability issues. I'll put the vacuum gauge on it soon to see what it pulls.
