SERIOUSLY, what the heck is going on!? If your from so cal, specifically san diego county. you'll know how rare a sight another fsj is. right? well, how about this, over the past month, ive found 4 other fsj's within 5 miles of me. *two* cherokee's on bancroft in spring valley: one red one in a taco joints side lot, and the other painted matte black, in the lot of a chop shop, car customization/hot rod shop. A Chrysler era cream colored Grand Wag (beautiful condition) at the top of dictionary hill. And a green Kaiser or early AMC era Wagoneer in lemon grove, from the looks of it im assuming it doesnt move much anymore =(.

Seriously, is there anyone here who has info on any of these jeeps, or do any of them belong to a member here? id love to know some local full size jeepers...there so few and far between.

The black and orange Cherokee belongs to Twisted Metal. He owns the fab shop there in Spring Valley. I don't know aboout any of the other FSJs around there. I will be out in San Diego in June, but hopefully living in the PB area. If not PB, then over in Tierra Santa area. I would love to get to know some other FSJ'ers around San Diego when I get out there.

I'm in LA, but it's the same story here. I see a few on freeway and there are a few members some what close by. Until I have the waggy stable enough to traval more then local trips, I'm gounded from travaling that far and playing in the OHV areas.

cool, if we can actually get some people together >.> we might be able to get some groups together to go wheelin. ive done *alot* of exploring in my wag and my friends '42 willys mb(rough ride) and i have found some pretty kick a** ohv spots around here. in county non-the less. 35 minutes drive or so, just up past alpine. about 45 minutes for pb, about the same from tierra santa.

you actually see some on the freeway...lucky. besides a few sitting in lots and front yards, all i get is strange looks, occasional "rock on's" from fellow jeepers, and the not so occasional "what is that monster?" anyway, know of any good ohv spots up in the LA area? i might be up that way this weekend, and i *always* have time for a little detour.

Sounds good to me. I have a few things I want to do to my Jeep to make it more trail worthy, but i want to become more involved once I get out to San Diego. Twisted Metal started a club in the San Diego area called socal ultimate 4x4. Look them up online. I have posted a few times over there. Seems like a good group of guys. And a few FSJs there as well.

I know the one next to the taco shop... I eye the thing every time I am waiting for my burrito! I don't suppose you are the guy here in Lemon Grove with the 10-4 J10?

nope, i have a 85 grand wag. beat up, but solid, and most of all, i got it with a brand new engine in it, for like, super cheap. theres a j10 around here!? oh, and is the food at that mexican place any good? i usually just go down to casa de oro for Saritas burritos.

There are a lot of waggys in the OC. Used to live there, the GW's were the standard soccer mom ride there for years, particularly around Newport Beach. That is where I got my sweet, garaged all its life, pearl white woody. Now I live in Imperial Valley, a few waggs out here too. In San Diego I notice them around Coronado and La Jolla. Sad thing is most folks have turned them over to their teens.

There seems to be a group of surfers, at least two or three, that show up at Blackies in Newport from time to time. I have spies.

Best built one I've seen over there is Tony's. Love that rino. Makes it look 15 years older, in a good way. :D

I lived in Anaheim for 5 or 6 years, thats where I bought my Cherokee. But I never saw many others. I live up in Bakersfield now and see them around quite a bit. Mostly Wagoneers, and once in a while a J truck. We should get a group together someday. Maybe crash someone elses show.

I'm up in Pine Mountain Club, top of the grapevine between Bakersfield and Valencia... it's right near Hungry Valley OHV and also lots of great trails. I bought my jeep from "some mechanic guy" in North Hollywood who had it as a lien sale. Would love to go wheelin' sometime after I work a few more jeep details out.

The "famous" Lockwood - Miller Jeep trail is here too.

i would be so down for getting a group together. all the jeep meets around here are like all xj's and wranglers. but, not to sound dumb here, what the "famous" Lockwood - Miller Jeep Trail?

Chief Gunner just told me about this thread. To my suprise you guys were talking about me. "ive found 4 other fsj's within 5 miles of me. *two* cherokee's on bancroft in spring valley: one red one in a taco joints side lot, and the other painted matte black, in the lot of a chop shop, car customization/hot rod shop."

Ive got the matt black Cherokee with the orange stripe. And yes we do hot rod work, 4x4 work, and long travel sand car work. I got so desperate to wheel I couldnt wait to find other FSJ's so I started a so cal 4x4 forum for wheelers. And another forum for the Hot Rods. The 4x4 forum is called SCUFF and it is for all of So Cal. It's a non discriminating site... any rig can run with us. Its a family show so we keep it clean and neat, no flamming or trolling etc. We started it about 7 Months ago and we already have 200 plus members. Feel free to check it out if you would like @ www.socalultimate4x4.com (http://www.socalultimate4x4.com) . We have runs somewhere in So Cal just about every weekend. Ive been looking for FSJ's for a long time now to wheel with, now I find this site.:D as usual perfect timing. LOL

As for the hot rod forum we are just getting it off the ground. Its calledf SCRAM www.socalrodandmuscle.com (http://www.socalrodandmuscle.com)
feel free to drop in any time and help us get it off the ground. For that matter stop by the shop any time I would love to meet you and your FSJ. The brown fsj up the street at the taco shop is a runner. Nathen the owner is working up in the bay area right now, I will point him this way when he gets back in town.

Hey everyone!
I live in San Clemente and most knew when I was at the beach by my Jeep, a '77 Cherokee Wide Track. It was my daily driver for about 20 years but now spends most of its time in the garage. It has about 5-5.5" of lift, 33's, limited slip in the rear, 3.54 gears, Thorley headers and twin exhaust, Mellings stage 1 cam, 625 cfm Carter AFB carb w/1" spacer, HEI ignition and is port matched. It also has about 180k miles on the second engine and even more on the transmission, but it still runs well. Up till now I haven't had time to wheel it or drive it much for that matter but my 17 year old son loves to drive it and really wants to take it on a trail ride. Maybe something not too challenging due to the age of the drive train? I thing I've seen only a couple of Cherokees and even late model Wagoneers in town especially in the last few years though someone in the Marblehead neighborhood actually had about four Wagoneers parked in the street!

A good place to find those hard to get car parts this weekend is at San Diego's Qualcom Stadium parking lot. It's the world famous Big 3 swapmeet. Antiques, Classics, original parts, go fast parts, and parts that sparkle... Just an FYI

I encourage everyone in So. Cal. to use the forum in my sig - even though I'm busy often and can't make the meets, that doesn't mean you all can't use it for whatever you want! I'll be adding sub-forums for different regions of So. Cal. soon... :)

Cool! I hadn't noticed that before.
