Anyone have a pic of the above combo? I've been thinking of painting my old steel wheels and I have four great little moon caps (really shiney and no dents). I think it would look really cool going retro.

you wanna find the pic of the guy in cali who did a rhino conversion on his late 80s wag. Pretty sure he had mooned steelies on it (obviously custom). its hunter green with burgundy interior.

I use run that almost 5 years ago and it looked good. Can't find any pictures thou.
I never bothered looking for the caps but I really liked the look of old steel wheels.

If you're interested I run the full hub caps on steel rims on my Wag.
More info on that picture please!
Four inch lift?
Size of wheels (stock?)
Size of tires?
That is exactly the look I want for the SuperChief.

I was just thinking earlier today about a Jeep I almost bought once. It was a blue '77 2-door n/t Cherokee with a 4" lift and stock white wheels with dog-dish caps and 33x9.50-15 BFG Mud Terrains. It was a really stripped down base model with a 258 and a three speed, but I remember thinking at the time how tough it looked!

All I really know is that it's an '87 running 34" TSL's. I jacked that photo from one of the Jeep mags online, found it thru google image search awhile back. Sorry I can't tell ya anymore man.

That looks like a 6" lift, but I could be wrong.

Only because of the full wood grain if it had the thin wood strip or no wood strip it would look sweet.
Krek I think you rig would look awesome with those wheels and your stripe.

I'll dig it out when I get home and let you know... seems like BJs had something to do with it.

I didn't mean to hijack the thread but I think so too. It has 33x10.5x15s on it now with the stock wheels. I'm not opposed to a skinnier tire but may want a wheel with less offset so it doesn't look so much like an elephant on ballet slippers from the front and rear.

I remember that rig, I think it's really classy. It was featured in FSJ mag (Jeep Junkie) and was from a member here, he did all sorts of touches to make it like the older wags but with new stuff.

I run steelies on my Jeep, always have. Once I was tempted to get some white wagon wheels but I came to my senses.:) I really like the look of the baby moons... A lot! Does anyone know if they'll fit a 83 with 15 inch wheels?

Agreed. without the wood grain would look cool. The thin wood strip might look good also. Im not a hater of the wood grain on the wags, just this one looks ugly.

Her: The ones that were on the table downstairs?
Me: Yes
Her: I think I threw them away
Me: ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess I'm NOT going to get all the specifics...

Awesome looking rig!!
Thanks! I emailed you about your truck ride with the lift. I'm thinking of going SOA for better ride quality. Although my springs only have about 100 miles on them they are awfully stiff :fsj:

Guess I'm NOT going to get all the specifics...FSJ Magazine Issue #19 Jan/Fed 2006 - Feature Rig Exclusive: Building a 1989 "Kaiser" Wagoneer
Belongs to member Jeepin here on this forum. He has not posted since Nov 2007.
It is actually a beautiful Wagoneer and probably knocks the socks off a bunch of Waggys hanging around here including ours. It has an old school bench seat and ribbed headliner and custom interior to match the original burgandy dash.. The lift is 5.5" and has standard 89 issue 360/727/229 w/D44 axles. The tires are 34x9.5x15 TSL SSs on stock steel wheels. It was a 12 month restoration. Good story and pics.
I miss FSJ Magazine. Jeep Junkie Sucks.

Don't mean to kick up a dead thread but here's mine about a week before the lift went in. Looks classy but I only have 2 hubcaps.

Sweet... and 235s look pretty good with that much lift. I like that look... just wish they were 8 inches wide instead of 7.
This thread is making me eager for my Stockton 16 x 8 steelies to arrive.
I'll post up pics after paint and tires. :)
