Well I am looking around a bit for what I'm going to do for a bedliner...like 6 years ago my cousin had Line-X put in his truck and he LOVES it. So I thought I'd start with them.
First off naturally the guy had no idea what a Jeep Truck was...he says 'like a Liberty?' So I say 'assume about the size of a Dodge Dakota truck bed.'
Flat black, no color, not the U-V protected version...$530 bucks!!! Holy @!#$ batman!!
Looks like I'll be going the Durabak route...I can coat like 6 truck beds for that price!

I went with Line-X and was VERY pleased. Yeah it wasn't as cheap as doing it myself, but the color match, kevlar, and the fact that it dried in seconds and I took it home that day made a HUGE difference for me. It was also before or right as they were being bought out (the guy that developed Line-X was local to me, and he sold the business when I was doing mine). I have heard that their prices went up, but many of them can haggle a bit. But, that does sound a tad high for the non-UV version, and flat black. What was the cost to add those?

Heck I didn't even ASK! I wanted the most base job they can do...
Called Rhino and for the same job they're 100 bucks cheaper...getting closer.
I also think it has something to do with Illinois...there's some CRAZY EPA laws here, my cousin lives up in Chicago and he drove up to Kenosha to have his done and saved almost 2 bills for the same product....

well crap, that's not good. I aim to get the bottom half of my wagoneer covered in bedliner once I've got the rust taken care of. Let us know what happens.

Holy cow... I'd Durabak for sure... especially if I was doing the bottom half of a truck... come to think of it, it IS what I'm going to do!!

That ain't bad. Line-X quoted me $700 to do the inside of my CJ5.

That's about what I was quoted for my YJ. I had the hard top of my TJ done for $250. Of course it wasn't attached to the TJ at the time. $530 don't sound like TOO bad a price when you consider the taping off and prep work involved.

I wonder how this compares to the DIY versions of the stuff you get at mcparts stores in terms of durability.

I paid $650 to have the interior of my Rubicon Unlimited done. I am VERY happy with the job, but for the $300 Cherokee, I bought a $100 can of Herculiner and did it myself. I was in a hurry and only did two coats, I think three would have been better. On the other hand, I just wanted to reduce the "tin can" sound and make the floor waterproof, and it does that. The Line-X job is much better, but I don't know if it's 6 1/2 times better. :)

Yeah ... .. .
Rhino
Line-X
How about BULLDOG
http://www.bulldogcoatings.ca/
Most of my estimates have been,
for rhino top and bottom of 7' J10 bed $725.00
RHINO $725.00 been about 1 1/2 yr since estimate for just the bedliner
like $375.00
BULLDOG Color match $725.00 top and bottom
Just basic black bedliner $375.00
Line-X haven't got an estimate yet.
I might have them go up the front of the rear fender flairs if I do a color match.
Dale, years ago I did my CJ-8 with a bed liner. I used an application gun instead of a roller. Worked wonderful! The guns are pretty much cheap aluminum applicators you can buy at any paint store. ( I throw them away instead of cleaning them) The benefit is it's sprayed on and looks much better/even than using a roller. I did use two cans of liner, but I wanted it really thick. You can put it on as thick or thin as you like. The down side is the project has to be tapped off like you're painting. May be the way to go....Del

I had my truck sprayed with Ameriguard it turned out real well. Can't remember the price but don't think it was near that. It will make any dents in the bed stand out. I am going back to get the bed fenders sprayed and the bed rails done this Saturday, wish I would have them done to begin with:banghead:

There is no comparison between roll in bed liner and sprayed in bed liner.
For a truck bed, sprayed in IS worth the price of admission.

I got my ram 3500 short bed, over the rails, double thick, UV protected, shiney..."LineX-xtra"
$450
The main reason I went with lineX is warranty. I can go to any linX dealer in the country...all the rest ya have to go back to the shop that sprayed it.

I have the Rhino in the bed of the J-20. I've seen Line-X and I think it is a better product but overall I'm happy with the Rhino. I think I paid around $400 for over the bed rails and the bed. I also had some tie-down loops welded into the bed before the liner was sprayed.
I used Herculiner inside the cab. I pulled the seat/carpet and put on two coats. It makes for a nice sound proofer. I wouldn't waste my time putting it in a truck bed. It's much too thin.
I think the Herculiner would be a great product for undercoating a truck if you could spray it on.

I Durabaked my whole Cj5 (inside, outside and under) three coats for under $250. Haven't had a problem with the stuff yet, it's even held up against trees.

I've checked around, and even for the price, we are going with Line-X in/under my Cherokee; it wont see that much beating, I'd just rather take the precaution.

Yea a few years ago I stoped at a line-x place and asked about doing the inside of my YJ. It was something like $650-700 (cant remember exactly) he said they charge more for stuff like that, than they do for truck beds because of the pain of tapeing things off, removeing things, and bolt holes.

Go with the cheapest price and you'll pay for it by having the cheapest product.
Offer to do some of the prep work yourself.
I worked at the local Rhino dealer part time before they went bust and there's a lot of work getting everything preped. We used a fiberglass cup brush to clean down through the clear coat and paint before spraying. If you go to bare metal it's best to prime it first. Since the prep work is so important it's nice to know it's done right.
I tried the roll one stuff on my Wagoneer roof as a sound deadener since I pulled my headliner to get my roll cage up tighter against the roof and it isn't the same at all. Way too thin.
By the time you get the roll on stuff built up thick enough to compare to the pro sprayed in product you'll have just a much money into and not have nearly the quality.
Go with the pro spray in if you're looking for real durability and protection.
