For some reason, the goverment thinks taking your tax money and using it to crush your car is a good idea.

completely backwards, as it takes tons of fuel to make these new cars, while screwing the environment. Keeping older cars on the road and updating them is better for the environment, and for reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

Instead of paying for crushing cars, why doesn't the government force the automakers to release all the gas saving inventions they have bought over the last 50 or so years. Seems like that would be the best way to spend that money. "Repowering America" is what they could call it. Shoot if they would pay for it I would put pay a local company called Salida Conversions to install a Eletric hybrid system that they make in one or more of my gas guzzling bricks.
