I have been in the market for a new carb, but I have found the 1400 looks best. I do not see anyone that has this one instaled? Any thoughts

just about all of us who run a edelbrock carb run a 1405/1406. A few run the 1407 (750cfm version). The 1405/1406 (different chokes) are 600cfm, which is just about perfect for a stock to mile 360. I personally havent ever run a 1400 before on anything.

1400 I think is the EGR smog legal version of a 1405. I run a 1407 on my 401 and a 1405 on my 360. Good carbs for the $$$.........phil

Yes having a hard time with emmisions in NY already, I thought that the 1400 would be my best bet since it has all the hook-ups for emmisions, price is almost the same for most of the models

There were no 4 barrels as stock equipment in 1988. I did not know the 1400 had a carb vent hook up, which is all the other two lack. Edelbrock told me that the 1405 is jetted SLIGHTLY richer than the 1406. When I ordered mine, I had gotten a 1405 and the add-on electric choke kit because they were out of stock on the 1406. I did lean out the jets and metering rods when I took it for emissions testing here (no visual, just the sniffer, idle test only).
