Stuck in low gear

I was looking in the local classifieds this evening, and found a '79 J10 for $500. The ad said it had "minor" electrical problems. I called the guy, and he said the "electric kickdown" was messed up and it was stuck in low gear.

I'm no turbo 400 expert, but I don't believe there is any electical connection to the turbo 400, only a mechanical kickdown.

Any ideas what would have a turbo 400 stuck in low gear?

Truck is a 360, turbo 400, quad.

No mechanical kickdown on a TH400. There is a switch under the gas pedal that is activated when floored.

This wouldn't explain the stuck in 1st gear problem though, would it?

it could just be a case of someone not having any idea about a bw1339 q/t.

Good point. I admit, I know very little about the quad. Time for me to read up on it.
