View Full Version : Funky fuel problems after body lift...

Ok, about 2 weeks ago I installed a 3" bodylift on my Wag. Since then, it seems that gas just loves to bubble out the cap and down the side of my body.

The 3" lift went in without a hitch, it's up an even amount front to rear, and really nothing has changed. THe gas lines don't appear to be stressed by the lift in any way, and the only other thing I can say is that at one point I removed the vapor line to re-route it above the frame.

I left the vapor line off for about an hour until I began jacking the front of the wag up to install the pucks, and then gas began to spill. I re-installed the vapor line, and everything seemed to be ok, but apparently it's not, and I can't seem to get it to stop.

I doubt that a 3" lift all the way around would cause the tank to tip BACK at all, and even if it did, it shouldn't be enough to flow OVER the filler and vapor neck pieces on the tank and then UP to the filler area and out the cap.

Any ideas?
Sam

You may have put a kink in either the fill or vent hose, or you may have stretched a hose and caused it to have a pinch in it.

possibly you have created a siphon effect with the vent hose? maybe remove the upper end of the hose again and blow all the fuel back into the tank? other than that, ??????

See, that's what I was thinking...

My lines are straight, except for one spot where it sits against a body support. Since it's so slight I can't imagine it'd be that.

Could it be sihponing somehow? If I uncap it, it gently, slowly trickles out...not gushing, not pouring...just hardly trickling. If I re-cap it, I can hear vapor gurgling.

I'm puzzled still.

I agree with SpruceMoose. I think you have to undo it again and blow all the fuel out of the line and then hold your thumb over it until you can reattach it.

Wow, ok, I'll do that.

Thanks!
