Most "compatible" carb ...

I know everyone has an opinion of which carb is best to use, carter, q-jet or holley. But I would like opinions on which is most compatible in terms of linkage and fuel hookups, etc.

Had very little problem installing an Edelbrock 1407 onto the 360 in my 73. Had to buy an adjustable throttle linkage bracket and swap the "ball" the throttle cable mounts to onto the edelbrock. I think that involved drilling a slightly larger hole. You have to keep in mind that a stock 4 bbl manifold will be a spreadbore design while the carter/edelbrock are square bores. I used an Edelbrock manifold also so this wasn't a problem.

Ooops, I guess I should also include that this would be on a 79 Cherokee and for a square bore manifold.
