View Full Version : Speakers in the Rear Doors?

Has anyone put speakers in the rear doors? I'd like to move my ones from the cargo panels into the rear doors..Just not sure how they would look/fit. I took off the door panel and it seems like I could mount them in there with plenty of clearance, Just wondering about trimming the door panel. These are not 6x9's. Thanks

I've never done it, but make sure you check for clearance with the window rolled down.:)

Yep, already did that! I might pull the front door panel off and see if those brackets would hold the speaker and fit in the rear door.

I did it in my 71. Looked pretty good and improved the sound instead of wasting it all the way in the back

Forget it guys !I have them already in my GW and it was the biggest sin of previous owner :banghead: The speakers are really ugly on that small doors.

even if you used the factory speaker grilles like used in the front doors?

Windows seal good? Water drip in the door at all? .....just a thought

I did not have them; but the problem is you must install them in the rear end of the doors(because of window glass) and in that position circle frames are easier to install than the square ones .
It is not a big deal in sound quality.
The best way for improve sound quality in fsj's is making a box in cargo area (with 2 strong speakers 1 amplifier and a subwoofer).

Well I took of the front door panel today..Looks like the bracket on the front door speakers will work for the rear doors! Now I just have to find someone that has a set of those brackets..

I actually have some rear door panels with speaker grills from an '81 Cherokee 4dr I scrapped. I'll post a picture, maybe this will help.
