guys,
need this quick. the oil filter called for at both autozone and advance are the wrong filters. the filter only turns 2 turns or less before it gets tight. the filter keeps jumping threads. the threads on the filter are too recessed.
what brand and part number do you use for a 360 v8?

thanks,
mike

Napa Shows many different filters depending on the year.
Autozones book could be wrong or you could have a different year engine/oil filter adapter.
72-86 All have the same thread 13/16-16, they are just different diameters for different alternators? 87-90 is metric 20 x 1.50mm, and 91 shows a 3/4-16 thread.
Napa shows
FIL1258 72-83
FIL1522 84-86
FIL1626 87-90
FIL1085 91

Carquest(Wix) #85258. That is the number for most AMC v8's before 1987.

hi guys,
the previous owner had an ac delco filter on when i bought the truck. i went back to advance auto parts and described my dilemma. he looked up ac delco oil filters on my j10 and found that it uses a ac delco pf-24. got it, fits great.
the book at both autozone and advance call for a fram ph-25 and a purolator 20033. both those filters are WRONG. the purolator won't even catch the threads because it is too recessed. the fram will only go less than two turns before it jumps a thread.
DO NOT BUY A FRAM PH-25 OR A PUROLATOR 20033

The 360 used 2 different thread diameters. Don't know when the change took place. My 81 Wag 360 and 74 401 use the same size, but my 89 had a different thread.
