I wanted to introduce myself to this site, since I have spent the last two days reading all about my newly acquired, 91 Wagoneer. I just traded my 97 Ford Ranger for the wagon. This will be my daily driver, however I don't know too much about maintenance, but from what I have read, I will soon, or I will be selling the Wagon. I have been extremely nervous since acquiring this thing, mostly because of my lack of mechanical skills and the MPG, but have already learned alot from you guys on this site and will hope to learn more. Thanks for all of the info and you will probably be seeing many questions!
Thanks in advance,
Brett

P.S. She was just repainted before I got her, but not much else was done. She sat for about 7 months up until early January 09, but made the trip from North MS to the Florida Panhandle.

Welcome to the Forum! Sharp GW! :fsj:
Is that the original color? I don't think I have seen a 91 in red before.
Have fun with it and don't worry about it as long as it is running. That will spoil the fun of driving it!
Panhandle huh? Where at? I bought my first FSJ in Ft Walton Beach back in 76.

Now that is sweet. You're going to make alot of people jealous on this site who fantasize about wanting a nice clean paint job
Lots of good info here. Don't even think about regretting your purchase. Ask me how I know!
I did have some pretty good mechanical skills on small engines and tractors going in but that didn't stop me second guessing why I purchased what I did. Especially when I drove into my driveway with one of the tire hubs rumbling and just seeing that look on my wife's face like, Scott what the hell did you do? Two weeks later, I was driving down our Main Street on a warm spring day and had this eurka moment where everything just felt right. I haven't looked back since. One of the things we forget before we buy them is a) They're not new b) they're going to have cosmetic things like dings and scratches, c) Get ready to do at least some work on it. Once the panic goes away, you'll realize it's pretty awesome.
Bottom line, if you've got a good mechanically working engine and tranny, and a relatively rust free frame, you're probably good to go. The other stuff is cake.
Also, I bought mine when gas was $4.00/gal. At $1.80 right now, it's a sweet ride!!!
Finally, don't forget the head turning factor. I guarantee there aren't many in your area, especially one as nice as you bought. Relish the victory man. It's keeewl to drive some americanna. :drivin:
Ohhh and a little advice? Better put a diaper on her while she sleeps on that nice shiny white concrete drive of yours! ;)
P.S., you didn't buy if from a guy in Tampa did you?

This is a beautiful vehicle. Enjoy it! (and don't you think of selling it. If you are like me, you will soon be looking for an additional one)

Gorgeous Wagon! Rare color too...you don't see many that came factory red like that.
Welcome to the insanity. At least when you're ready to kick the grill in out of frustration you can come on here and we'll talk you down. :D

Thanks guys! I am slowly but surely starting to let go of the buyer's (traders) remorse. I would rather drive a Wagon any day over a single cab Ranger, however, it is the whole $ thing and reliabilty thing that I'll get over.
This was the original color, but it has recent paint. She has a very clean frame being that it is from Little Rock, AR, and spent its whole life in the Mississippi Delta. An older man had this one and an 87 that he sold to my brother, who then traded it to me.

Welcome from Tucson. great looking rig you got there. I use my 88 as a daily driver and wouldn't trade it for the world

That is beautiful! There is one like that a few miles from me that I have only seen twice in 5 years. I think it spends its life in the garage.

It spent most of it's life in Greenville, but had been in Oxford for the past few months.
