My basicly stock 81 cherokee with a 360. I am running headers and it has a higher performence camshaft (that is the only engine modifications). The engine was rebuilt before I got it 15000 miles ago.The engine makes a clicking noise in the area of the rear passenger side of the engine. It only makes it on that side and it is constant but not at an even pace. It has made that noise since I bbought it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Exhaust manifold...Either manifold gasket or collector gasket.

Hey I just realized you are up the road from me! We need to hit some trails sometime. If you ever need any parts just let me know. I basically have a 2 car garage stacked with stuff.

Check the exhaust manifold bolt closest to the firewall (back of the engine). That bolt probably came loose after it was initially torqued down (should've been retorqued a week or so later), and because of it's location it was never tightened again.

It's very difficult to get to because of the heater core housing and other stuff in the way. But do the best you can to get to it and tighten it as much as you can. I think it's a 7/16" bolt.

If its the exhaust manifold bolts nearest the firewall on the passenger side, it's easier to tighten them from underneath. If they continue to loosen, you may want to replace them and use lock washers.
