How hard is it to change a pinion seal in the Spicer 53 Rear-end? TIA

Although I've never worked on a 53, I'm pretty sure it uses shims for pinion bearing pre-load rather than a crush sleeve so.....Remove driveshaft from rear yoke, remove rear yoke (a good impact helps here), pry out old seal, tap in new seal, replace yoke (torque to spec), and re-attach driveshaft.

OH, I almost forgot, it will be a lot less messy if you remove the rear cover and drain out the lube first. Reinstall cover using permatex black RTV for a seal, and refill with gear oil.
