We just got our first dusting of snow here in Maine. I pulled into an icy parking lot in my new gw & started to slide toward a car. I finally stopped after jamming on the brakes. when i shifted to park, i realized that my idle rpm was reving real high. I kicked the pedal & it dropped down, then road a little further & put it in park- again the idle was reving real high. I just recently adjusted the choke... is this the cause of the problem? I tried adjusting it again, & it doesn't seem to help...

Might want to check that your throttle cable isn't fraying and binding. This would cause the symptoms you describe.

Is it an electric choke? Sounds like the wire supplying voltage to the choke has come loose. Mine has done the same thing a few times. Check the wire for voltage and/or reconnect it.

may be the CTO think it is too cold....and you are on manifold vacuum...... in fact the CTOmight be bust ! connect a vacuum gauge to your line going to the distributor diaphragm and see how much vacuum you have at idle... should be 0
