Okay, I got in a hurry to paint my truck and it has some runs in the paint. What is the best way to remove them? My plan is to let the paint cure for a couple days and then sand and repaint. I have a half gallon of paint left so I plan on applying another coat. Is this the best plan or are there any other suggestions?

If the paint is 2 stage(base coat/ clear coat) are the runs in the clear? If so I've been able to cut big ones down (carefully) with a razor blade, wet sand with 1000, and buff out with a buffer.
If it's single stage paint, I think the same will work, but I've never done it!

sand it (wet/dry, 1000+). works for me.

I once learned how to use masking tape to remove a run before it 'flashed' dry..you lightly put the adheasive side up to the run and it asorbs takes away most of the excess paint...however in your case...you might get by with the razor or method..but wet sanding is better. What kinda paint are u using?

The tape method and rag methods only work when the paint is wet. The best thing to do now is to let it dry. Then sand it smooth, wipe it down with Isoprophl Alochol, tag rag it and apply another coat of paint. Buffing will work better on clear coats than with topcoat. But then we mainly use polyeurethane...some other paints might buff out OK. Goodluck.

Always easier to fix mistakes earlier than waiting for later. At least thats what I keep telling my troops at work. Someday they might listen smile.gif
