WILL THESE SHOCKS WORK FOR THIS APPLICATION ??
1981 J10 (shock replacement candidate)
I have been using RANCHO RS5000 Shocks
RS5118 or 118 front and rear for my 1981 J10
compressed 14.00
extension 22.50
travel 8.25
4" rusty lift kit
OF COURSE LISTED FOR 3" LIFT for 1975-1987 Jeep Pioneer J-series pickup

RANCHO RS9000XL
POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT cadidates????
1966 galdiator
Front RS999116 or 116 (RANCHO SAYS ??? 2" longer)
Measurements:
Front: Fully Compressed: 16", Fully Extended: 26"
These are listed as 2" longer for same lift for the early gadiator 1962-1974

Rear RS999118 or 118 (RANCHO SAYS YES TO THESE FOR SURE) read twist below
Rear: Fully Compressed: 15", Fully Extended: 24"
HELLS Canyon 4" lift 1966 Galdiator.
Per rancho mounting not a issue.

TWIST
rear shock is (Rancho site does not list this for rear for 1963-1973 Gladiator/J truck)
RS999010 L1 L1 16.125 26.000c 9.875 2.18 P920
upper lower mounting codes are L1
Compress 16.125

Reserve tube 2.18

Applications are listed as,
Dodge durango rear 3" lift
Dodge dakota rear 3" lift
Ford ranger rear 2.5" lift
Mazda B200-400 rear 1.5 lift

Curious to see people answer:
Per rancho site listings are typically noted for 3" lifts
Boy that really clears things up.

I agree with this statement from the rancho rep.
The only why to know is to remove the shocks and jack the truck up and see what is correct per extension and so fouth although I have never seen a shop do this for me they just get the listed part and install- LOL

What really sucks also is that most all rancho shocks are listed either for stock 0" lift
or primarily 2-3" lift I'm running a 4" lift just another twist.

Not many shops do but very few DO test your flex and get shocks accordingly.
That is the way to do it.
The typical american way is to do everything by the book as in order from a list and put it on, cheap, no R&D to do someone already did it.
I don' like this approach that is why I am a DYI guy, I do everything myself and do it the right way or not at all.
I still have some brand new shocks in the box because I one time thought let's trust the big shops. :banghead:
