D300 to TH400 where a Qtrac once was.

Ok I got the AA adapter and 32 spline input shaft from them. I also have sourced the correct(i hope) 32 spline TH400 output shaft for my tranny.
Looking for maybe some "if i was doing mine over i woulda..."

What about the clocking? Should i be happy with the supplied mounting holes for clocking? Just how flat can you go with it before trans pan issues begin? (1310 yokes).

That adaptor doesn't really give you that many clocking choices. Half those holes are for running it inverted prolly so just figure to plug it in with a position that is approximately stock and run it that way. If you clock it to the next set of holes I think it will obviously be rediculously high and you don't need it clocked any higher than stock anyhow.

I have a TH400/D300 combo in my j10. You need a TH400/NP208 output shaft and adaptor housing to swap in a D300. I installed a clocking ring just so that I have the option of rotating the t-case if I ever wanted to for some reason. Plus it helps out when installing it so you do not have to cut the 32 spline output shaft out of the tranny. Also, don't be surprised to onlu use 5 out of the 6 mounting holes for the t-case.

I clocked my D300 flat and it is way to high in the frame. I will be clocking it down one or two positions come the spring time. I'm also going to pull the case apart and install a set of HD 32 spline output shafts and 1350 yokes onto it for some added beef. I would do the output shaft upgrade if you still have the case out and have the money for it.
