Have you tried a good tune up and filter change? That should do you a world of good.

I would also do a tune up, but to be honest, your problem sounds just like a blown power valve, which means a carb. rebuild kit is in your near future.

'nother thing could be the coil.a weak coil wont produce enough spark to burn all the fuel.

I guess I should have been more specific. When I had my shop a good tune up included rebuilding the carb, plugs, wires ( if needed ), cap, rotor, points and condenser ( if needed ), check the coil, compression test, all filters, clean and check battery and connections, check belts and hoses, and then set to specs. And a good visual inspection of the entire vehicle.

definitely carb related!! either choke is stuck closed, float is stuck open, power valve is blown...
