Dana 60 rear trac lok ??

So someone school me here...my trac loc needs new clutches, or to make things easier, just welded up. Ive searched before and thought that you couldnt weld it. But, after looking at pics on the internet, it seems like you could still weld the spider gears together like most do. Is this possible or am i crazy?
