Hi,

I did a search and could'nt find what I was looking for.

I just rebuilt my engine and the old balancer was coming apart, so I thought I would just replace it.

I pulled off a balancer off from a spare engine, and after putting on the timing chain at #1 TDC, and the Distributor pointing at the # 1 cylinder.

I started to put the other dampner on, and the timing mark is way off from the timing groove on the dampner.

Do I need another dampner for my particulaur year?
Its a 85, not sure what year the other engine was, it was taken after I took the balancer off.

And I dont remember where the timing marks were on the cover. Very frustrating to find another, parts stores here dont even have a replacement for it.

I did find some on the links when I did the search. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

as far as I can tell, you need to have your balancer and cylinder#1 match, so you don't necessarily need a new balancer. You just need to take off the balancer and put it back on so it matches up.
The timing marks are between 10-11 o'clock with relation to the balancer.

The balancer only goes on one way, the timing marks go 12 o'clock on the crank, and 6 o'clock on the cam right?
