84' gw purchase?????

Okay this is regarding my previous post.

Okay... They want 1500 for the truck..
Need vaccum lines(no prob)
Needs Carb (no prob have one)
New ac
New tires.
Backwindow doesn't work..big deal

Here is the bummer and what I am worried about.

The #1 valves are ticking like crazy. I am worried about a bent valve. But do not want to buy unless it is fixed by the owner. I know it just could be a loose rocker. But what could is this typically without knowing.
I do not want to have to tear into the heads right off. Any info is greatly appreciated.

This rig has 150,000 miles on it. Runs overall really good. 4wd works great and the tranny seems strong. Clean in and out other than the typical fadded paint.

AMC 360 with 150,000 miles and a noisy valve train, means one thing. Cam will most likely be flat (JUNK) so at the very least you will be looking at a cam & Lifter set along with Cam bearings and timming set. I am thinking a 84 GW with 150000 miles on it and motor noises is not a good deal not at $1,500.00 but that is up to you. I think you will be doing major engine repairs on this rig soon, if you purchase it. :eek:

If you can get it for $900-1000, I'd say buy it. Let the guy know your worries and about what it's gonna cost for you to do this repair if he doesn't.

I agree Brown bear.... He will not budge. I allready asked him. I found two more I will be looking at soon hopefully. Thank you for the reply.
