I locked up the motor in my J-10, and now I am faced with problem. No money (new baby on the way) and I need to get this truck running. I have found a engine at Sooner Jeep in Oklahoma City, the E-mail said it was a nice one and he wanted $500. and offered a 90 day warranty. Is that too much and is there anything I should ask before I go look at it. Also, what should I look for, or do you just take a chance. If you dont think its a good idea I'll do somethig else.
Thanks

Well the price is not bad. I would be asking what the mileage is on it. Compression test. Once there I would turn the motor in one direction and then the other you will feel the slack come out of the timming chain, you should not have a lot of free play in the chain. BIG thing would be to push and pull on the front pulley, thrust bearings being wore out is fairly common. There should be near no end play in the crank. What happened to yours? why did it Lock up?

thanks, my oil pump crapped out and I was trying to get it home. But,it locked up about 50 yards from my driveway. Also, I asked about the milage in my original e-mail but he didn't mention what it was. I'm gonna e-mail him again or call him today. Its about a three hour drive so I'm gonna find out as much as I can in advance.
