I am new to this forum but Ive owned FSJs for ten years. I was wandering if any of you have ever had this happen. I parked my J10 with Quadratrac project truck about three months ago. I got in it to move it today and the transmission is out. I rebuilt it two years ago and put about 5000 miles on it with no problems. It doesn't matter if it is in high or low range or if it is locked or un locked. the fluid is not burned and it drove to where it is setting. Do you have any ideas on the problem? Ive never had one do this before. Thanks for any help

Sounds like the valve body on the trans may have some stuck pressure valves.

I am sure you checked that the fluid is full.
I would let it idle for about 20 mins and then try it, try all gears. Try letting it sit in gear at idle also. Only way to get a valve body to release without tearing it apart to my knowledge.

Thank You, I will try that today I was ready to start pulling the whole thing out.

That didn't work but I did think of one more thing that I have done. Right before I parked it I changed the Quadratrac fluid, it was very dark looking. Could this have anything to do with it. Thanks for the help

Your sure that the T-case is not in neutral by mistake? You did say that you cycled it from hi to low. Are you sure it is engaging? Just a thought.

I would change the fluid and filter, for a start, and make sure there is enough in there. TH400's can get sticky inside, so whatever you have to do to free them up would be the solution. I highly doubt the pump or clutches have gone bad, though.

I tried the transfer case again. It grinds going from high to low if its not in park, I just tried this by mistake. Something has to be moving in there. Mabe I washed out some of the cone dust when I changed fluid. Is this possible? I know it is possible in a worn automatic transmission. Thanks for the help.

Well, my vote was for T-case in N...
If the truck hasn't moved an inch, try rolling it a little while pulling the range lever, maybe it IS in neutral but it just can't quite mesh when you try to shift?

It Moves! I finally got a chance to mess with it again. I gave it a shove with my wagoneer and when I got in it, it moved. the transmission and transfer case seem to shift fine. Thanks for the help.
