Try washing them with about half a liter Coke cola in the wash water that is how mom used to get my work clothes clean

Ha ha, actually wearing shorts and sandals as we speak and will no doubt be firing up the welder at some point today. I think screwing around in the shop in sandals has actually been good for the curse word industry, as I have invented quite a few new ones because of it.

Lol it's funny when you make the decision of wearing a 'good' pair of jeans out to work on the jeep..then they become 'no holds barred gana wipe grease on em' jeans..

Safety glasses are a must!
Come to think of it, I only own/wear work clothes too.
I have good-work clothes and work-work clothes. While I'm often converting from good-work to work-work the opposite never occurs.

I don't think I would survive wearing sandels. Most of my pants pull double duty between shop work & going out. Put a pair on about two months ago to go to church and the wife says "Your NOT wearing those. They have a hole in them." I reply " Why not, their my holy pants". ....................I changed pants.

I work in shorts and stuff all the time in summer.
Or nice cloths in the winter... Then they are ruined.
No welder yet so I have managed to avoid hurting myself... other than the usual cuts and stuff obviously... My dome light cover has blood on it... LOL (I tried taking it off and broke it cutting my hand... Super glue worked wonders at putting the two pieces together... You can't even tells its been broken except fro the bloodstain.

A few years ago, I waqs picking up a set of old Bronco axles for me YJ. The guy at the boneyard, brought his torch over to cut them off. All he had on was a pair of jeans and some shoes.
As I'm watching this guy torch this stuff off, I realize he ain't got no body hair, none.
Well go figure....

You are looking at the queen of idiots. I sandblasted the Gladiator bed wearing shorts and my back is total trash from loading up way too many TH400's and QT's.
Don't even ask me about the time I decided to paint one of the J-10's bumper's using a paintbrush. The bristles got stuck and the darn thing looked like a porcupine.

Speaking of burning flesh in the morning and idiocy: The other day I forgot to turn off a live circuit while I was removing a digital controller from a massive HVAC system. Happy clipped through the 480 line (fused at 60 amps) with the ONLY pair of wire cutters in the building that do not have rubber over the handles.  :banghead:
My co worker walked in the room a few minutes later (when I was recovering from heart failure) and asked "whats that awful smell?"

So does carwash soap... the pink flake stuff. Gotta know somebody that owns a carwash to get it but, it works great.

I was cutting out the metal for a gas tank with a torch a few years ago. then I noticed it getting really hot. looked down and my whole pant leg was on fire. that was fun. But the best one wasnt jeep related. working under my 63 Impala that was on ramps, knocked the sucker out of park. My dad had to jack it up to get me out. Luckily no major injuries.

I dunno fellas, I always wear workboots in the shop, even when Im wearing shorts and welding, I just feel more "secure" that way, as I have a long history of dropping stuff on my foot, and all my workboots are worn through to the metal shank only on the right side.
I like er...(ahem)...ventilation and uh..."freedom" that the shorts offer when Im crouched down on the floor and doing metal work for long stretches, and wanted to put a question to you, that I didnt want to ask my local pals...but has anybody ever considered the "utility kilt"?
I know...I know...you dont have to tell me...and dont judge me for thinking about it, Im married, have kids, like baseball and trucks and all that...but it DID cross my mind, strictly from a practicality standpoint.
Here, check it out: http://www.utilikilts.com/?page_id=30
Dont judge me fellas...it was just a thought.

I only work in steel toed boots... It doesnt matter if I am wearing pants or shorts, I will still be in boots. Ive dropped too many heavy items on my feet to work in sandles...
Additionally, I often wear knee pads in the garage, especially if I am wearing shorts...
AND, I have about half a dozen face sheilds and pairs of safety glasses, and I wont hesitate to put either on if I think that I might get something in my eyes.
If Im welding... Yep, Ive got on (at minimum) gloves and a shield.
To top it off, I also always wear gloves. No matter the task, I will almost always wear nitrile gloves or if I dont need a lot of dexterity, I will wear mechanics gloves... The main reason for the nitrile goves is due to dry skin. If I get my hands covered in grease and grime, it wont wash out. I just have to wait for it to wear off.
Most of these practices stem from being a professional mechanic for over a decade now. I have seen WAY to many maintenance related injuries to ignore PPE... I have 5 people counting on me to pay the bills, and I would be very upset with myself if I had to miss work because I was too lazy to use common sense in the garage!

Steel toes & overalls here.
Leather apron, shield, gloves & ear plugs when welding.
If it's really greasy, packing bearing, cleaning in the parts washer...etc, nitrile gloves. Thin gloves with a rubberized grip surface when doing just about anything else.
I also have safety glasses all over the place, in specific locations that I wear as needed. Sure is nice to crawl out from under a car and not have ta dig the dirt out of your eyes. Power tools...you better believe I gots me on some glasses.
I even have a "lab coat" kinda like a doctors "smock" that I wear for oil changes and stuff I know is gonna get splattered on me some how.
I wish the guys where I work had the common sense of Dmntxn77! Most of the time they scare the crap outta me.
As far as oil or grease on cloths, use a brush like you'd use for fingernails or a little tub srcub brush, and work in some goop / Go-Jo. Wash the clothes but DO NOT dry them. Once you dry them with heat, the stain is permanent, let them hang dry, if the stain is still there, do it again.
It's amazing what that stuff will get out.

I gotta go with cntryby and dmntxn...I've seen way too many injuries in the shop to go sans PPE.
Worked out on the jeep all weekend and the attire was boots, carharts, and either safety glasses or welding hood depending on the job at hand.
I'll go short sleeves in the summer but if there's gonna be any serious work done (welding/cutting/grinding/etc) then it's pants and boots for sure. I sweat in a snowstorm, so cool's irrelevant for me, but I really don't want parts of me injured that I need...

I have Jeep-workin' clothes that I keep on a shelf in the closet.
'Course that doesn't mean I put them on everytime I work on the Jeep...I wonder if that's why the pile is getting bigger?
