I just picked up a (J-2000)? Gladiator. I am looking to verify what I have. the plate in the door gives me a S/N ####Letter #####. Will this be the only Identifiable plate on the truck? i belive that it has Dana 60 axles and the Vigilante V8 327 motor.
Please help fill in the details.
Thanks Rob

welcome to the site! :D
there should be a plate on the firewall, drivers side. it will have the VIN number. post up the numbers, and someone will be able to decode it for you.

65-67 for AMC 327
Think the D60 rear, unless special ordered didn't come out til 68.

No D60s in the front. D44 or HD44. The D60 rear axles were only available on 7000 & 8000 GVW J3000 from that time period. Pretty sure the J2000 were all D44 front and back - but not positive. Some may have been rear D53. Serial number will help.

It's a late '66 build date, may be titled as a '67. That door frame VIN tag will also give the GVWR which would indicate what axle you have.

It will be a Dana 53, unless swapped out, only the D53 has a large nut on the end of the axle so if that's there it's whatcha got.
