OBA is very easy, although kinda pricey when you do it "right". Although, there is no comparison between having it and the cost when you are in the middle of no-where and need air! I have a oil seperator, in-line safety pressure valve, a pressure relief valve (to remove the head pressure, the pressure switch and hose. Mine was a learning experience and I now have a collection of "spare parts" for later projects. I have only one thing left....
Does anyone know of a way to rev up the motor aside of the high idle solenoid? Dont get me wrong, it works great, but it cant push the linkage hard enough to get the throttle kicked up.

I've had the same problem with the solenoid, have to give it a little pedal to activate it. I've not yet done something about it (still hoping to get a TPI convertion) but I have a couple of ideas.
A solenoid that pushes harder like the ones that somebody (Warn I think) makes as an replacement for GM vacuum 4wd activator, or a air-piston with an electric on/off switch would do the trick. None of these are cheap, so if somebody has though off some other bright idea that would be nice. A simple handgas made off a bike gear selector would also make it possible to adjust high idle when the compressor is used, but it will not give you an automatic high idle when the compressor operates.

Glad you found it useful.
I am in the middle of collecting parts to due mine. I was just going to use the bike gear selector for my throttle adjustment. I used this idea in my bronco for a hand thottle and it worked well.

I have my OEM AC unit under the hood but the AC hasn't been on since i got the rig from the PO ~ 2 years ago...would love to turn it into OBA...do i need to de presurrize the AC unit before converting it, or remove the freon - i'm clueless about AC systems...

JBurke YES. If you are not sure its empty take it to be drained.
A nice clean way to mount the air tank is to use the banding they use to hold stuff down to palets when shipping stuff. Can ratchet the thing supper tight to the frame. And its cheap if you know someone that works in a shipping dept. at a factory.

Did this on my truck. Just be sure to put a safety "pop off" valve on the system so it doesn't build too much pressure. It works great, and I can run air tools with mine. I mounted the tank where the stock spare would normally be.
