I found this 69 J3000 for sale locally. I am trying to price it and of course I think what the seller wants is way too high, based on what he has in the flat bed.

So what we have is 69 gladiator, 4 speed, with a rebuilt buick 350, power steering and brakes. It also has a "custom made" flat bed. The truck has a 3" body lift and 35" tires on it.

Bench seat is worn, most of the controls work except the defrost to heater.

What would you offer for this rig? or where would you price it?

I would use this as an occasional "off road" and "camping/fishing" rig and would want to bring to Ouray for the Invasion this year (so road worthy from Kansas to Colorado).

Yep, you got the asking price -- The flatbed cost him $4K -- tires are in good shape too and he dropped some coin on those.

I would say its worth 3k easily. The tires look newish... More importantly he has a spare... Nice in itself but indicitive of someone who is somewhat more careful and less inclined to overlook lurking mechanical problems. Plus it has no rust and the bed does look halfway decent.

The 3K of course assumed no major defects.

Nice truck, has the 8 lug axles too... plus a hidden gooseneck hitch it looks like. I wouldn't be resistant to paying his asking price on that if the mechanicals are all working well.

If those axles are stock then it's a J3800 Camper Truck (1-ton).

I'd go $2000 if it is as good as it looks in the pics.

The flat bed really doesn't add any value, unless the potential buyer likes that style flat bed.

Dang that's exactly what I need. I'd say if you have the $, offer him 4k and settle around 4500. *if* that's the market for around you. At least a repaint of the cab won't cost much :)

I've been hacking away at my J3000 to make it somewhat like that and it's neat to see one done. With the cost of the D60 and HD44 and setting them up, and the cost of a flatbed (built or bought), and the concept of a 'reliable' motor vs the 327 in mine, yeah that's 4k right there easy with decent tires.

Bring it to Ouray. That will make a great party truck up there!

I think you just motivated me to go pick up a flatbed sitting on an IH dually to use on my Jeep dually. It will take the thick plank deck but I could deck it with steel and drop a goose neck hitch in there like that'n appears to have.

What is special about a camper special? or what makes it different? Did they do anything different other than more heavy duty springs that increase the weight capacity?

I am not a flat bed kind of guy but that truck looks sweet! $5000 sweet, no...but I do like the looks of it. With that price tag, I bet it is going to sit for a while so if you're not in a hurry I bet the price will get friendlier with time. Who actually gets out of a vehicle that they put in??? I am in agreement that you shouldn't pay a nickel over $3000.

I don't know about Jeep, but my 68 F250 has bigger springs and brakes.
Nice looking rig.
