They used the 44 in the front.
Don't forget, the J-10 used 3:54, the J-20 used 3:73 (standard ratios).
Change one end, change the other.
i see pairs of j-20 axles on here sell for 300-500 usually. remember, 80 was the changeover year for front pumpkin drop. 80+ will be driver side, 79- will be passenger

I paid about $125 for my J20 rear axle at a pull and pay. I would start your offers at $100. Unless I am mistaken, your J20 rear should be a Dana 60 and the front would be be a heavy duty Dana 44. When I got my rear, I went back and got the front too to have matching gears to save myself some trouble later. Good luck.

I paid $350 for my J20 axles. The front was locked and had all new seals and bearings.

It's a junkyard, right? Ask THEM what they want for it. Never make the first offer. Make the SELLER do that. Then you know where they're coming from.
I was once going to offer $125 for a camera accessory that the seller turned around and offered to sell to me for $50. Obviously, I bought it for $50 and didn't bother to tell them I'd have given more than twice that amount.
Oh yeah I hear yah,That's what happened when I bought the jeep.He wanted me to make him an offer, but I would'nt price someone else's stuff. Finally he said he could take no less than 1200.I coulda just about fell over.I was thinkin' of 2500-3000,when he said that I just kept my composure and eased back to the truck. When my wife and I got up the road and outta sight.....well then I let it out OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH YYYeeeeaaaaaaHHHHHHHH!!!So,needless to say I borrowed the money and he brought it to me.
