dimmer gremlin

last night on the way home i pulled up behind a truck and noticed on his paint that my headlights were not on, I checked the switch and it was pulled all the way out. I tried pushing it in and out a few times to no avail. then I noticed the blue light for my brights was on but i could not get my foot on the switch (floor mounted) cuz my parking brake lever was in the way so i drove home without them on. after parking nothing i did to either switch did anything but make the little blue light come on and off. today I tried it again and got one headlight on the way home, when i got home suddenly both lights worked?!? any ideas?

Mine does this every now and then. when was the last time you replaced the switch? I just replaced mine but my wires are shot and they need to be on there just right. I need to get a new plug. Check the wires, sometime they get corroded and cause the problems.

this is my first fsj and I just got it a few days ago so i have only replaced a few things as time allows. thanks for the info

While you replace the dimmer I would do the headlight relay upgrade. It can be found in the tech section of this site under electrical. Its well worth it.
