401 is demensionally the exact same as the 360, so it will bolt right up.
your market may vary, but i sold my running 360 with 100k miles for $100. i could have probably gotten $150 or even $200 had i cared much about it, but it went to a wheelin buddy that is going to put it in a CJ10a tug wheeler project.

there is a guy who's got a real decent 360 "he says" wants 350?

$200, tops. These are not highly sought after motors. Of course, a 401 will bring more, but it's well known on this board that they're not worth more than $100 or so, esp. when wrapped in a 70's Wagoneer. ;)

I sold the below 360's in the past couple years;
$600 rebuilt w/ edlebrock intake and carb complete
$150 (x2) cores long blocks
$50 core shortblock rebuilder sold to a member on here
$50 longblock ran good sold to a member on here
Prices will vary depending on your locale
I wouldn't pay more than $150 unless you can do a compression test, and hear it run.
Or, your buying it from a yard that will warranty it as a good engine.
Ok, thanks for the input.I will see if I can get him down...or maybe warrenty it.

Buy a running piece. Pull the motor. If you're lucky, you will end up with other parts you can use.

Try and get it complete. The little brackets and acc. will nickel and dime you to death.
