that make ya wanna pull your hair out.
I went over to the parents to get my driveshaft in. Should take like 5 minutes right? well it was going all good. Got it bolted to the transfer case. went to the rear end. got 3 bolts in. Tightening up the last one and it gets hard to turn. so I back it out and clean out the hole with a wire brush since I dont have a tap that thread. Put the bolt back in. It goes a little further and BREAKS :mad: :banghead:
so now I gotta pull the stupid yoke off again and try to drill that sucker out. This is taking so long I wondering if I should put the 44 back in. seesh. Im just venting. I'll get it. just frustrating.

Is any of the bolt sticking out? Do you have a torch? If yes to both you might be able to get it out without drilling...vice grips on the bolt, heat the housing up, not a lot, and try to work it out...heating the cast housing will cause it to expand...don't overdo it...cast doesn't like too much heat, you'll basically anneal it.

I've lived a half hour from Phila my whole life and have never seen the Liberty Bell. :(
You're right, best to do it on a bench. Is the yoke off the 14 bolt? There are write-ups (pirate 4x4 I would guess) about people drilling out the thread holes to replace the straps with u-bolts. I'll do it to mine eventually.

nothing sticking out unfortunaly. Im heading out in the snowy freezing cold right now to pull the yoke off. then go in the slightly less freezing garage and start drilling. I may hafta drill it out for u-bolts. Im gonna try to get just the bolt out. but we'll see.

Drill it the tap drill size...to calculate that for 75% thread depth the formula is
D-(1/N) = T
N=Number of Threads per inch
D=OD of bolt (.3125 for 5/16)
T=Tap Drill size
or you can use this chart...
http://www.korit.com/tapndrill.htm
make sure you get a good center punch mark to start with...grind the bolt off flat before you start if you can so the drill bit will follow the center punch mark and not the variations in the break...

Often times, once you get a bite in it, the remaining bolt piece will turn itself out. Let's hope!

I lived in Ogden from 90-96. Managed the Pep Boys in Riverdale. Lived up in Eden for 2 of those years. Was back to visit 2 years ago- the place sure has changed alot since then.

I went to Six States and they wanted 176 bucks for a standard replacement yoke. I can get a whole nother 14 bolt for that. So my pops called up his buddy at Tom Woods. Had one in stock. 75 bucks, but he knocked off30. so WOO HOO! I'm so glad I got this one with the u-bolts.

they are a waste of money, if you cannot afford the MOST expensive set, which is a waste of money.
