I've been to a couple parts stores and keep getting told that the blower motor is not available for 77 J-trucks. The Wagoneer one that they have in stock is not the same. Mine has a large (about 7-8") plate attached directly to the motor housing. The plate attaches to the fan housing with 5 small screws. The motor only has (HAD) one wire coming from it. Anyone know how I can get a new one?

Don't know if this pic is clear enough to help but, it's the only one I have...

I have done this upgrade on my CJ and YJ. I will let you know how it goes on the '79 here shortly.

I think that JP did an article a few years ago with a older Bronco blower. I believe it was a direct bolt in.

Mentioned this to my mom (turns out the Jeep I learned to drive in at 8yo was hers, not Dad's...anyway) she ordered it for me as my Christmas present. I'll let everyone know how it all goes. My brother also found a generic CJ/YJ motor that may work as well but, it's $20 more...

You wouldn't happen to know the # for the Wag one, would you? I just took mine apart & cleaned and lubed it up & it's working 100% better (and quieter), but I'd like to get another for back up if it's cheap enough.

No, sorry but Autozone and O'Reilly's both had them in stock for about $40.

Got the new motor from Jim (ebay seller that Mike posted. Thanks, Mike D.!) on Saturday. Picked up a relay, and learned how to wire it (thanks google. :o), today. I now have more heat than I can stand and I know how to wire a 4-pole relay, finally! :)

I had spoken with several fan mfr's about an upgrade a while back, giving them the stock sizes / part numbers, shaft size, etc. They cross referenced them and there aren't any that are a bolt-in swap. There are some that are larger, but you'd have to do some serious doctoring to get them to fit. Also, the stock blower motors are already stout and move a lot of air, but most folks either have a clogged up heater core, non-working vents, the vac lines to the actuators are shot, or the heat ducts are not sealed all the way. The blazer blower motor upgrade was for CJ's and YJ's as they had considerably smaller blowers stock.

I just replaced my heater blower motor over the weekend and flushed out the heater core. My 10+ year old heater motor ran but never put out much heat or moved much air. After replacing the motor and flushing the core(which was very clean based on the water color) I can't believe the difference in the heat/defrost and output! Wish I would have replaced years ago!

I have a '79 Wagoneer with 360. The unit was is a Siemens, model PM3602X, purchased online at Autozone for about $40. Good investment in my case........
