View Full Version : What intake manifold do you like?
Looking at getting a aftermarket 4 barrel intake manifold and was just wondering what everyone likes. smile.gif

It kind of depends on what you want the motor to do. Higher RPM (Horsepower) or lower RPM (torque)? Intake, and cam kind of need to be in agreement on this or you wind up with a mess. Are you going to be changing the cam in the future?

Edelbrock 2131 or 3731 depending on if you are EGR or non EGR. The 2930 doesn't make much sense for most of us as we will never see the RPM's to benefit from it.

I like my Performer intake. smile.gif Are you thinking about finally swapping in the 401. Get that stuff swapped, we got winter wheeling to do. smile.gif

Edelbrock RPM Air Gap but it matches my cam and torque convertor selection
I have a vintage Offenhauser intake I might be persuaded to sell...
I'm a big fan of the Edelbrock Performer Package... blah, blah, blah.... you've all heard me say it before, but it is nice.
I've driven a few wags with a 401, and a couple with a 360. My brother has a 360 with just the Edelbrock intake, and it runs a little better than stock. Compared to other 401s, I think mine is great (power, throttle response, starting, idling) compared to the other 401's I've driven. I attribute it to the dyno matched stuff, as well as the slight port and polish on the heads.
Good Luck,

Any dual plane 4 barrel intake will do great. They promote low-end torque and good atomization of fuel. Aluminum is nice, but not necessary. Even a good older factory 4 barrel intake will work if you can find one. Steer clear of single plane intakes, those are for high rpm race cars.
