i got a problem with an 80 jio it has a edelbrock 4bbl intake and a holley carb, after running for awhile once you shut it off and try to restart it. it will not fire back up it seems as if its binding up. i know its not the timing, checked it with a light..and i know its not the battery. did anyone else ever have this problem? or does anyone have any suggestions.....thanks

Sounds like electrical or starter. You said you know it's not the battery??? did you test the battery?? Test the battery wires and make sure you have a solid ground. If all that is good test the starter.

could be the bendix on your starter. yank it and take it down and have it tested.
Does it turn over like normal and not fire, or does it struggle to turn over?

it struggles to turn over...if you hold the key in the crank position it struggles for around 30 seconds and then it will just fire up...it is odd....

Sounds like your starter may be overheating had the same problem in a ford f-150 wrapped the starter with a heat sheild and never had the problem again

Check your timing, too. If the timing is too far off, it'll make the engine difficult to start.

Starters get cooke pretty easy, wrap it... or the exhaust especially if your running headers. Summit racing has wrap.
