After talking with Steve at Arizona Driveline (http://www.arizonadrivelines.com)... I ordered my 1310 CV rear shaft with 4" slip... $250 to my door...WOW
They also make a HYBRID high angle CV....check it out...
It's sooo pretty.... I'm not painting it YELLOW!!! :D
I forgot what vibe-free driving felt like in my rig...
FYI--- With a compound angle of 14.5*... the factory Spicer CV works GREAT... plenty of droop left before binding... about 8-10"
I will take some pics later on...
Bryant,
IT WORKS FINE!!! ;)
UPDATE
Here are the shots:

Looks good. That is interesting that the slip yoke is on the axle side like that. I suppose it doesn't matter does it? I was thinking the CV and the slip were on the same side. I the fronts are made like your rear is now. But will it make a difference in the rear?
I also think it will look better in "RB" yellow. :D . I plan to paint mine in "PC" red :D .

I was surpised to see the slip-yoke end near the axle as well. I thought they were supposed to be near the top and have the opening face down to prevent water intrusion.
Granted, keeping it well-packed with white-lithium does the trick as well.
What type of U-joints does it have? My YJ-ish Jeep has the kind with a grease zerk sticking out of each cap instead of the one in the cross-section. This makes the marginally stronger and much easier to get the grease gun onto. This is important to me since I did a large amount of my 4-wheeling with the hubs (and sometimes the hood) underwater.
That is a real nice 'shaft RiverBeast, and a great price as well!

It looks great. Did you take it apart at the slip joint ? I'm not seeing any blue coating on there. In the next size up slip joints Spicer uses a blue teflon coating on the splined side. You should invest in a boot for that joint since it is on the low side. It looks like a shock boot and very well worth the investment. A few grains of sand and your $250 drive shaft is only worth scrap weight. If they can't get you one, talk to a heavy duty truck parts house.

Sycho15,
The joints are 1310's...where the zerks are is no big deal to me as long as I can get to them... these are on the X and not on the caps.
I do (did) alot of river runs when I was in Yuma and I know what you mean about the 'lube cycle' :D ...
Stolen76,
Having the slip yoke at the diff end is no big deal...look at your front shaft... came that way from the factory.
BTW... you cant' see the BLUE TEFLON coating cuz it starts at the the splines.... so it's a GOOD THING you don't see it!!! ;D

About boots.....
I have learned my lesson on boots the hard way....I don't use them!!!
I was a BIG believer in boots until I started doing river runs....they collected water and helped along the corrosion and collection of dirt and debris.....I don't have that problem anymore....

I run boots on my driveshafts and never had any trouble with dirt. It just looks strange to see the slip yoke in the rear. But if a driveshaft company says it is ok then........

Just talked to the Steve at arizona driveline. He suggested that I get a 1350 CV with a short slip shaft. He would make it so that the CV is on the slip end, the oppisite of Todd's. He also said that if I was to get the 1310 I would have to grease it about every 1000 to 1500 miles. The price for the 1350 would be $375  and an additional $125  for the flange that goes on the t-case. What to do, what to do.......
hey todd,looks great.
just curious...........are you using only the rear gas tank you installed?
as far as painting it i would candystripe it.

RB, you just run them open (no boot) through the river runs and grease the heck out of them after ? I hadn't come across anyone having trouble with the boots before, but the high water thing makes sense.

Mark,
Yes... I only have the rear mounted Bronco tank... I "86'd" the OEM tank....
I still may paint it yellow... ;)
Stolen76,
I do a complete re-grease after the water runs... in deep water... I have had the boots fill up with water on my shocks as well....
I have been known to submerge about half way up my doors....
