Well not really a "Boobie lift" but swapped in a Boobie grill, Installed Rusty's 6" kit, BJs 1.5" shackles, and got new wheels.

So I bought my '86 GW back at the end of August. What a great solid old Wagoneer! No rattles or shakes. Had to replace rear main seal, replace two window flex tracks, and replace tailgate window switch. Last week I installed the lift in a few hours....that was easier than I thought! Swapped over to the Boobie grill last Sat. morning.....again that little project was easier than I expected. The cherry to top it all off was the new wheels. Running 33s on 15 x 8.5 wheels. Next project this winter is going to be cutting some doors into "half" doors to run in the summer. Right now I have a little over $2700 in the rig....not including my time. The BEST part is now that gas has dropped its my daily driver, my car is getting a break!

Couple before and after shots. Before was how I brought it home. It had about 3.5" - 4" lift and 33s when I got it....infact I will probably put that lift for sale in the classifieds......Oh and need to sell the black wheels too 15 x 10 and like new!

It looks great! Awesome rig. My favorite part is the "sticker" swap on the rear windows.

White Wagoneers with wood are my favorite color.

Hey thanks for the compliments!! For the record, it is white....looks like original paint. Could be the way the clouds were yesterday when I was snapping the pics. I absolutely love this thing! Went early Christmas shopping last night. Threw the three kids in the back and off we went. My car and wifes Excursion are gettin lonely! The whole family is lovin it. Funny about the wheel comments. Everyone around here would say "man thats a nice old Wagoneer, but need to get new wheels, dont like the black" I'd get that from friends or strangers...I have to agree, I dont like black wheels....maybe it a regional thing?? I very happy with they way its turning out.....kinda have my eye on a good running 401....might be the next project....Thanks again, Mike

looks similar to mine-I like it...down to the rims..what did the grill come off of,and do you get any exhaust fumes in the cab with where you have the exit? do you have a closer picture of the front? I am interested to see how you transitioned from the stock grille with the "bump" to the new one...

Thanks Mikey, I dont have any more pics of the grill, but I will take some and send them on. The grill swap was easy. I bought the grill off Ebay for around $50 with the round headlight buckets. To make the swap you need to change the square headlight buckets over to the round ones. A little bit of fab work to make them work but still, the whole swap might have taken 2 hours. I had to cut off two mounting tabs that were not needed, then it pretty much bolted right on. The only other thing you need is a "hood bar". It fills in the gap above the older grill. The late model grills "bumped" up to the hood. At first I thought I wanted the "Razor" grill, but the "Boobie" style kept growing on me....I'm very happy with it! Here are a couple closer grill pics I have......

Love the looks of the new grill - one of my favorites.
What did you do with the old turn signals? Did you have to fiberglass over them?

Thanks I'm VERY happy with the grill swap! I was really concerned about that until I installed the grill. It covers the stock turn signals completely!! Just unplugged them, leads reached up to the boobie lights no problem.

hey draglink,
what year and make did that grille come from??, do you have a source for the hood bar??

The "official" name for the grill is - Egg Crate/Boobie Grill. It came on '74-'78 Wagoneers. I got the hood bar off Ebay from seller - edwardsterling. I got the grill off Ebay from seller - jimbobfg. I recommend both sellers. Just ask edwardsterling and he will locate a hoodbar for you. I have a pair of round headlight buckets if you need them for a swap.....
