Clear coat questions

I searched the archives but could not find an answer. Did all years GWs have clear coat problems? Was this something that affected all GWs, just some colors, or was it a "you might have a problem"?

It seems to be pretty rare to find a GW without clear-coat problems that hasn't been repainted. My paint job is in great shape for it's age yet it beginning to show issues in a few places.
