Has anyone had any experience using the AMSOIL filters, oil, etc. or any other synthetic oils or non-paper, high-flow filters (K&N)? Do they really increase gas mileage, power and reduce wear, thus extending life on parts?

i have all amzoil fluids in my wag. except power steering and coolant! ;) i have not seen any difference, but at least i dont worry about changing the oil once a year/15000 miles. i do change the fram filter every 6 months though, as amzoil recommends.

I have a friend who swears by AmSoil. But the tests I've seen show very little difference between Amsoil and mobil-1. The Amsoil oil filter system makes a heckuvalotta sense though. If I didn't have twenty five other projects preceeding, I'd get their filter system.

Mobil 1 and Amsoil are both very high quality oils. That said, they are also both very expensive. I personally wouldn't use either if the engine leaks, or burns any oil, because the cost would be prohibitive.
K&N makes a good filter, and has a million mile warranty, Amsoil filters, again, are good quality. Both are better than paper filters, and cost accordingly. You can get K&N in performance models, the Amsoil you can't, only stock models.

I'm with Lindel on this one. Also, I change my oil every 3,000 miles because it gets dirty, not because I'm concerned about viscosity breakdown or something else related to the quality of the oil. That dirt can't be a good thing for the bearing surfaces!
